A draw was held by The City of Red Deer today to issue 21 new taxi licence plates.
A total of five applicants were included in the draw, with 70 plates requested. The 21 available plates include the 15 taxi plates allocated for 2026, as well as six plates that were previously awarded and returned to The City.
The recipients of the new plates, and the number of plates awarded, include:
- 94 Cabs Red Deer – 6 plates
- Alberta Gold Taxi – 3 plates
- Associated Cab – 5 plates
- Red Deer City Taxi – 3 plates
- Brothers Cab – 4 plates
Each plate recipient will be contacted by The City to confirm next steps.
Plates included in today’s draw must be operational by September 3, 2026. Any plates that are not operational by this deadline must be returned to The City. If any plates issued today are returned to The City, they may be reissued through a future draw.
A livestream of the draw can be viewed on The City’s YouTube channel.
