Gaetz Avenue Revitalization
The City of Red Deer has completed a streetscape revitalization project for Gaetz Avenue downtown. This project began in 2011 and enhanced Gaetz Avenue as a safe, walkable streetscape with a strong sense of place. In coming years, the new energy efficient white light street lights on Gaetz will be extended to adjacent streets. As well, the project coincided with replacement of underground infrastructure along the entire length of the street.
In addition to the planned streetscape enhancements, the project introduced a change from two-way traffic to one-way between 49 Street and Ross Street. As well, the project coincided with replacement of underground infrastructure along the entire length of the street.
The Downtown Business Association now hosts the Wednesday night Farmer’s Market on Gaetz Avenue each week between June and October.
