Renovations or Alterations
You will need several permits for interior/exterior renovations or alterations, tenant improvements, change of use or occupancy to a commercial or industrial building.
Change of Use
A change of use is when a commercial space is changing from one business to another and each have a different classification within the Land Use Bylaw and Safety Codes Act.
Electrical Permits
A permit is required for any electrical work being done in a commercial/industrial building.
Heating Permits
You will need a heating permit (HVAC) if you are installing a furnace, HRV, air conditioning, roof top unit or hydronic heating.
Plumbing Permits
If plumbing exists and you are replacing or attaching fixtures, a plumbing permit is not required. For any alterations or new plumbing, a permit is required.
Gas Permits
You will require a gas permit to do any gas fitting work in a commercial or industrial building.
Fireplace Installation Permits
You will require a fireplace installation permit for the installation of any gas or solid fuel burning fireplace.
Service Connection Permits
A service connection permit regulates the installation of service connection pipes from the municipal system to the property line as well as the installation of water meters.
