On Sept. 1, 2026, Red Deer RCMP were notified of an incident which occurred on Aug. 31, 2026, at approximately 2:00 p.m., at Lindsay Thurber Comprehensive High School.
An initial report to police indicates oleoresin capsicum (pepper spray or bear spray) was sprayed into the ventilation system in one of the bathrooms, resulting in student being evacuated from the building. Red Deer Fire was on scene to assist with clearing the ventilation system, and students were dismissed early by administration at Lindsay Thurber Comprehensive High School.
