Toys for Tickets

It’s the most wonderful time of the year – Toys for Tickets is back!
Toys For Tickets is back!

If you receive a parking ticket in November, pay it with a toy instead!

From November 1 to 30, drivers can pay their parking ticket by dropping a toy off at City Hall. All gifts are donated to the Red Deer Christmas Bureau to help ensure no child in Red Deer wakes up without a toy on Christmas morning.

How it works

Anyone that receives a City-issued parking ticket this November can pay by donating a toy, instead. Toys can be dropped off at City Hall until November 30 and must be of equal or greater value than the parking ticket. Toys must be new and in original packaging, and ticket holders must provide an original receipt showing the value of the toy.

In early December, The City will round up all donated toys and deliver to the Red Deer Christmas Bureau. The Christmas Bureau then distributes the toys to families in need throughout the community.

Please note that tickets related to residential snow plowing do not qualify for this program, but anyone can donate directly to the Christmas Bureau.

Making a list, checking it twice

Each year, the Christmas Bureau provides a list of popular items on kids’ Christmas lists. In 2022, they have identified toys for children ages 10-17 are in highest demand.

For a list of popular items for each age group, check the Red Deer Christmas Bureau’s Toy List. When shopping, consider supporting one of our many amazing local Red Deer businesses!

For families in need

If you or someone you know is concerned about finances and could use a little help this holiday season, the Red Deer Christmas Bureau may be able to help. Visit their website to see program requirements and to apply for assistance.

Toys for Tickets

What is Toys for Tickets?

The City's Toys for Tickets campaign runs from November 1 to 30 of each year, where people can pay their City of Red Deer parking ticket with a toy in lieu of payment. Toys collected during November are donated to the Red Deer Christmas Bureau, to help achieve the goal of ensuring no child in Red Deer wakes up without a toy on Christmas morning.

The Red Deer Christmas Bureau

The Red Deer Christmas Bureau is a non-profit organization that supports local children and families through different fundraisers.

If you would like to find out how else you can support this organization, or learn about them, please visit their website, www.reddeerchristmasbureau.com.

Toys for Tickets - 2021 version

From November 1 to 30, The City of Red Deer typically allows toy donations in lieu of parking ticket payments. All gifts received through the program are donated to the Christmas Bureau to help achieve the goal of ensuring no child in Red Deer wakes up without a toy on Christmas morning.

This year, as a COVID-19 precaution, The City will make a financial donation directly to the Christmas Bureau rather than requiring ticket holders to purchase and drop off toy donations.

The amount of The City’s donation will be determined based on the total of early ticket payments for City of Red Deer parking tickets issued during November 2020, to a maximum of $6,300.

Red Deerians who wish to support the Red Deer Christmas Bureau directly can contact the organization for donation options. Contact information is available on the organization’s website, www.reddeerchristmasbureau.com.
