Red Deer RCMP advising of Police Incident - UPDATE

Red Deer, Alta. – Red Deer RCMP are investigating a shooting that occurred on Hepworth Close in Red Deer, Alta.

On May 24, 2021 at 3:29 p.m., Red Deer RCMP received a report that a vehicle had been shot at while driving past a residence on Hepworth Close in Red Deer. Police immediately contained the scene and The RCMP Emergency Response Team (ERT) was called for assistance.

During the initial stages of the investigation, a residence was identified and two individuals were detained. These individuals were released a short time later as officers determined they were not involved. Further investigation led officers to a nearby residence, where the alleged shooter was identified and arrested without incident.

The investigation is ongoing and charges are pending. An update will be provided when more information becomes available.

No one was injured in the shooting.

The Red Deer RCMP would like to remind the public to not post photos of unfolding police events on social media for privacy and safety reasons. The Red Deer RCMP can also confirm that this incident is not related to other events that occurred in Red Deer this past weekend.

Red Deer RCMP advising of Police Incident

Red Deer Alta. – Red Deer RCMP are on scene for a police incident on Hepworth Close in Red Deer Alberta. Although the situation is currently contained, police are asking everyone to avoid Hepworth close. If you are residing in the area, stay inside unless advised otherwise by police. Police also ask that residents not post photographs of police on social media during this incident.
