On June 14, 2023, the Red Deer RCMP Crime Reduction Team (CRT) was conducting proactive patrols in the north end of Red Deer.
Members of the CRT team spotted a vehicle driving without a related licence plate.
Police identified the vehicle occupants and confirmed both occupants were wanted on multiple outstanding warrants.
RCMP engaged with the vehicle once stationary.
A foot pursuit ensued and one male was taken into custody by the RCMP CRT team.
36-year-old Kyle Harstad was arrested on a Canada wide warrant out of Leduc, Alta., and charged with the following new offences:
- Obstructing a peace officer
- Possession contrary to an order (ammunition)
- Possession of an unauthorized substance under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
- Provincial Traffic Violation Tickets
Harstad appeared before a Justice of the Peace and was remanded for his next court appearance on June 29, 2023, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Red Deer.
33 year-old Kaylyn Holmgren was arrested in the vehicle on outstanding warrant out of Rocky Mountain House, Alta., and was charged with the following new offence:
- Failing to comply with release order
- Provincial Traffic Violation Tickets
Holmgren appeared before a Justice of the Peace and was remanded for her next court appearance on June 26, 2023, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Red Deer.
